The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena Review

After five years of waiting, a sequel has finally appeared for the 2004 hit game The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay. The game includes multiplayer, a touched up version of Escape From Butcher Bay which even though touched up still shows its age, and the brand new sequel Assault on Dark Athena. Now many people will find the sequel disappointing because for the most part it takes what everyone loved from the first game and gets rid of it completely. At the beginning it starts off all sneaky with you lurking in the darkness and shanking your enemies in the head which is what made the first game so popular. But the more and more the game progresses the more it drops the stealth and picks up the run and gun type of gameplay mostly because the second half of the game takes place outside during the day time. I don't have a problem with that because I'm a hardcore fan run and gun gameplay, but fans of the stealthy gameplay from the first game will be disappointed. Some new guns are introduced such as the SMG and SCAR gun which are both fun to use. Something that pulled me toward the sequel was interesting characters. The first game had some great characters but I found myself being way more interested in Dark Athena's characters. Characters such as a little girl named Lynn who is hiding from the drones she calls monsters and the psychotic captain of the Dark Athena, Revas. I started to enjoy Dark Athena more than Butcher Bay, which is saying alot, and then towards the end it's almost like the creators of the game kind of gave up. Towards the end you encounter mini bosses called Alpha Drones which are kind of cool to kill. Before the game ends you encounter this enemy like six more times which is really annoying and begins to show the games weaknesses. The game also includes multiplayer which includes the same old team deathmatch and deathmatch modes. One of the more creative modes called Pitch Black puts one player as Riddick with his eyeshine ability and sharp Ulaks, while the other players are regular soldiers equipped with guns and their flashlights. The only objective is to find and kill Riddick. Whoever kills Riddick becomes him the next round. It took me about two days to beat both games and that's with taking breaks. If you haven't played Butcher Bay you should definitely give this game a pickup and if you have then its still worth a try with two full games and multiplayer its a great package.

Monolith just released its first map pack for F.E.A.R 2 and its great. The map pack includes three new maps including: Full Tilt, Cockroach, and Recess. These arnt no ordinary maps, these maps turn you into mini replicas thus the name Toy Soldiers. So that means everything seems huge in your eyes with Full Tilt putting you in a pinball machine, Cockroach putting you in a bloody hospital room making you climb up electrical cords, jump on band-aid boxes, etc. and Recess putting you in a sandbox filled with large sand castles, mini green toy soldiers, and colorful toys. This map pack is creative, fun and worth downloading. It is now availible for a FREE download so give it a try.

My Top 5 Favorite Video Game Bosses

***WARNING*** MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

One thing I love about video games if they are done correctly are the bosses. These are my 5 favorite bosses:

1. The End (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater).....Even though I last played this game about 4 or 5 years ago, I still remember this boss battle more than anything else throughout the game. As of right now the old sniper wielding/bearded man with the parrot known as The End, is my all time favorite boss.

2. GLaDOS (The Orange Box: Portal).....Portal was a amazingly addictive game with its unique gameplay and GLaDOS's hilarious comments. Fighting the comedic/singing robotic operating system while she mocks you was a great and fun way to end the game.

3. Hydra (God of War).....The Hydra was one of the first bosses of the game and one of the best. This huge, mythological, oceanic creature reminds me to this day why I love God of War.
4. Irving (Resident Evil 5).....RE5 was packed full of great and memorable boss battles, but I would have to say that the battle with crazy man Irving was my favorite. It was hard to choose, but the thought of fighting this gigantic, tentacle wielding sea creature (Irving affected by the virus) while in the rain, on a boat supplied with turrets and plenty of heart-stopping dodge out of the way moments, made my decision easy.

5. The Berserkers (Gears of War).....From the start I knew I had to feature a boss from GOW. I thought long and hard about this and I was stuck on either choosing General RAAM, who is the ultimate badass villain featured in a video game, or the Berserkers, who are not necessarily main bosses but more like mini-bosses, and my final conclusion was the Berserkers. I chose the Berserkers because the moments with the huge and psycho buffed out creatures were the most intense and fun moments of the game. Every time you would meet up with these guys all you had to remember to do is to not get in the way when they sprint towards you breaking through walls and causing havoc.

What are some of your favorite bosses?

Fallout 3: It's Hard Being The Bad Guy

Now I was a little late to get the amazing RPG known as Fallout 3. But recently while playing I got to the section when you get mentally transported to a place known as Tranquility Lane. While there you meet a small demented little girl(actually a man) named Betty. The whole reason your here in the first place is to find your long lost dad. Once you meet Betty she makes you perform a certain amount of tasks in order to get information about your dad's whereabouts. Your first task is to make little Timmy Neusbaum cry which you can do by succeeding in telling him his family is getting a divorce or you can just punch him. Next, you must make Mr. and Mrs. Rockwell get divorced which I did by going to the Simpson's house getting the underware located upstairs and then putting the underware on Mr. Rockwell's desk in the basement of their home and then telling Mrs. Rockwell to go to the basement letting her see the underware. The next task is to kill Mabel Henderson in a creative way, beating her to death just wont do it. To do this I went inside her house and went up the stairs, while up there I hopped on the chandelier and loosened the screws. After that I just waited for her to walk in the house and below the chandelier, and when she was below I jumped on the chandelier causing it to collapse on top of her. NOTE: there are other ways to kill her. The last task was to retrieve a mask and knife to become the myth known as The Pint Sized Slasher and kill everyone in Tranquility Lane. I called this post "IT'S HARD BEING THE BAD GUY" because I personally could not mentally handle killing all the innocent people of Tranquility Lane. NOTE: Doing all these tasks does lower your good karma greatly. Now if you don't want to do any of these tasks you can easily do the following: Enter the abandoned house, then activate the following objects in order: radio, pitcher, garden gnome, pitcher, cinderblock, garden gnome, bottle. Once doing this, a static like terminal will appear, once entering in choose the "Chinese Invasion" option and that's it. After leaving the house you will see a bunch of Chinese soldiers shooting the citizens. Go up to Betty and get the information you want from her. TIP: Never hit Betty throughout your stay at Tranquility Lane because she will automatically kill you. Going the abandoned house route will gain you good karma. Once complete, go through the door in the middle of the playground to exit Tranquility Lane and meet with your dad.

####SPOILER ALERT####: Your dad is the dog chilling in the playground the whole time.

The Top 5 Things That Should be Incuded in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

1. Taliban Zombies.......Call of Duty 5 included the new mode Nazi Zombies and I would really like to see it again but with a modern twist.

2. The Same Multiplayer.......Call of Duty 4&5 had some of the best multiplayer I ever played and I would really like it to stay the same.

3. The Awesome Sniper/Stealthy Mission.......Call of Duty 4 had the sniper/stealthy All Ghillied Up that was almost every ones favorite mission of the game, and then Call of Duty 5 recreated that mission with Vendetta, a less satisfying World War 2 version of All Ghillied Up. I would really like to see a sniper/stealth mission in the next installment.

4. Cinematic Moments.......The Call of Duty series has always used cinematic moments to keep the player on the edge and Call of Duty 6 should be no different. These moments include falling helicopters, collapsing buildings, and a nuclear bomb destroying a whole town in real time.

5. New Perks.......Call of Duty 4 brought the concept of Perks to multiplayer which gives you upgrades that help you in unique ways. In Call of Duty 6 I would like to see some new and more creative perks to be added to your advantage.

WHAT WOULD YOU WANT CALL OF DUTY 6 TO INCLUDE?

Xbox 360 Motion Sensing Controller....REALLY!!!

Microsoft has announced the creation of the Xbox 360 motion sensing controller which is a Wiimote look alike. This remote is going to be used for some Xbox Live Arcade games and some how is going to be featured in the game Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. From the start, I always wanted the Xbox controller to have some kind of feature similar to the Playstation 3's Xaxis controller. As of right now I'm not sure if any games are going to be made especially for this remote but I predict at some point they will. The picture of this remote is below. Please comment on your opinion of how this remote will turn out.
